The microwave mindset that raises desires within the NFL makes it harder for coaches and administrators to persistently hold up for youthful players to create. But the Cleveland Browns would be shrewd to donate Baker Mayfield time to realize his potential as a previous No. 1 generally pick. I know the Browns’ QB1 has drawn bounty of skepticism over the past year, but the 25-year-old has sufficient devices to win — and win huge — in Cleveland. We were reminded of this amid the Browns’ prime-time triumph over the Bengals on Thursday Night Football. Mayfield led Cleveland to touchdowns in five of their eight full drives, including three of the primary four. This shouldn’t be stunning to anybody who’s taken after the previous Heisman Trophy victor; yes, he endured a sophomore droop in 2019, but one year earlier, he broke the rookie record for landing passes in spite of as it were beginning 13 recreations. Mayfield has the aptitudes — and encompassing cast — to succeed.
